Leroy
Leroy is a trail broken, family horse and was originally rescued in May 2008 from Sugarcreek Auction. He was literally standing in Bakers direct to ship pen from the week before. He was adopted by a couple in northern Ohio looking for a beginner friendly hubby horse. Well, they found it in this gorgeous guy. He’s been used for trail riding by several in the family and does well. He loads and trailers quietly. He’s not small so someone not intimidated by his size would be best suited.
Jennifer Salo Baldwin (current home): Here is more information about Leroy: He is awesome. My husband rode him primarily. Leroy was the first horse that my husband rode, and they would go anywhere together. We would do some challenging trail rides, and he and Leroy would be our trail blazers. With conditioning he will move out too in a nice canter, but we mainly walked and trotted with him. We shod his front feet this summer as the trails by us have a lot of stones- he stands for the farrier- no stocks necessary. If anyone has any questions, please feel free to contact me on my page. I will also post more pictures of him. I hate to admit this though- I did pull his mane- he can be an itchy boy in the summer, and it was getting a bit much for him, but now you can see his gorgeous neck. We ride him in a halter bridle because he can be difficult when bridling because he puts his head high so the halter bridle is wonderful. I’ll post one more pic. Contact me directly if you want more angles.
Adoption fee is $500.
Spayed/Neutered • Up-to-date with routine shots

DISCLAIMER: We are in NO WAY, nor have we or will we EVER be affiliated with Drafty Barn Rescue located in Lore City, OH. The operator of the Drafty Barn Rescue organization has tagged the phrase "Frog Pond" on her website, used a portion of our trademarked slogan for her organizational name, and has placed frog pictures all over her pages. Additionally, she seems to be overly concerned about the length, content and requirements of our adoption application and contracts. This is a small part of her efforts at causing issues for our organization. One very good reason this "rescue" should be watched is shown in living color from Channel 3-Cleveland News Footage. The photo of the operator of the Drafty Barn rescue is shown on the still shot in the video. You will hear her own words and feelings on horse slaughter by watching the link.
There is also a 2008 USDA/Ohio Dept of Agriculture citation against them for Non-burial of Livestock after they left a horse lying in a ditch for days unnoticed by anyone that resides at the farm -- only the children who ride the bus past the farm daily to school. We received numerous phone calls from parents requesting assistance. Should you wish to see this document, please feel free to email us and it will be forwarded.
There is now a report on file with the Guernsey County Sheriffs Department regarding this same individual in Summer 2010 for "Theft by Intimidation" and "Impersonating a Law Enforcement Officer" for illegal removal of horses currently under the monitoring of local Humane and Law Enforcement.
