Fluke

This handsome devil is Fluke. He is a 4 year old Belgian gelding, stands 16 hands and is ready to train for riding the way you want.

Fluke’s Story:

I was returning back to the barn with a load of sawdust and having to drive down the back roads, I pass many Amish farms. Well, when passing one I noticed a truck/trailer on the road and an amish man trying to load a young draft. I stopped and asked if he was hauling to Sugarcreek as I knew the sale was that day. He said yes and continued trying to load him. I asked if he would consider allowing me to buy him. He looked at me funny and said you want this horse? I said I would be back with cash to get him if he wouldnt send him north. We negotiated a $200 cash price on him. Once that was done he stated he had been hurt previously as he and his team mate both got caught in the dorrway at the same time and he was healed but was previously off in the hip and he was concerned he couldnt work a full day. He walked and trotted him off and I told him I would be back that night with cash. He agreed and we returned that evening to get him. With the rescue of Fluke we have also made a connection within the Amish community hopefully giving an out to drafts heading to Sugarcreek and ultimately slaughter. I have provided my contact info to this man and will be looking forward to hearing about others in need.

When Fluke was loaded on our trailer it was only the 2nd time he had been on a trailer. He took some time and patience but he loaded and hauled home with no issues. He stalls well and is over whelmed that he has water in his stall and accessible. He needs some confidence but you can see a different look in his eyes already. He has been vaccinated and wormed and will see the vet and farrier very soon.

There is also a 2008 USDA/Ohio Dept of Agriculture citation against them for Non-burial of Livestock after they left a horse lying in a ditch for days unnoticed by anyone that resides at the farm -- only the children who ride the bus past the farm daily to school.
