Aiden
I have been ADOPTED…
and heading to Topeka, Kansas
Congrats to Diane!!!

Aiden
Aged Belgian cross gelding pulled from PA broker lot. Stands 15 hands and was in horrible condition upon arrival. He was approximately 300+ pounds underweight and had a nasty stinking mouth infection. The lump in his jaw area protruded above his halter but he was so hungry and use to it that his appetite never waivered. He was started on 5 small feedings a day of senior feed slop and soaked alfalfa cubes with oil. Within 3 days of arrival, Aiden was hauled to Valley View Animal Hospital where he underwent major tooth removal. He had 4 teeth removed with 2 more a possiblity of needing removed in the future. He also received power floating to his fronts and molars as they were so far off. This poor old man had such terrible teeth that a bad one causes a quarter sized, califlower looking ulcer on his inner gums. The vet was shocked at his condition. And to top it off whoever had him had the wherewithall to put 4 brand new borium bottom shoes on him but didnt feed him! He also arrived with a weepy right eye which we attributed to his tooth infection. He was given ointment for that but cleared as soon as his teeth were pulled and we haven’t yet had any further issues with it.
Aiden has come leaps and bounds in just a few weeks of being here with us. He is eating 3 meals a day, gets private turn out and sleeps nights in a well bedded stall most nights. He had a visit from the vet on 11.18.09 to have those shoes removed. He walks much lighter now. He has become accustomed to the routine here and is doing fantastic. Please continue to follow Aidens journey while in rehab and into eventually his new home.

DISCLAIMER: We are in NO WAY, nor have we or will we EVER be affiliated with Drafty Barn Rescue located in Lore City, OH. The operator of the Drafty Barn Rescue organization has tagged the phrase "Frog Pond" on her website, used a portion of our trademarked slogan for her organizational name, and has placed frog pictures all over her pages. Additionally, she seems to be overly concerned about the length, content and requirements of our adoption application and contracts. This is a small part of her efforts at causing issues for our organization. One very good reason this "rescue" should be watched is shown in living color from Channel 3-Cleveland News Footage. The photo of the operator of the Drafty Barn rescue is shown on the still shot in the video. You will hear her own words and feelings on horse slaughter by watching the link.
There is also a 2008 USDA/Ohio Dept of Agriculture citation against them for Non-burial of Livestock after they left a horse lying in a ditch for days unnoticed by anyone that resides at the farm -- only the children who ride the bus past the farm daily to school. We received numerous phone calls from parents requesting assistance. Should you wish to see this document, please feel free to email us and it will be forwarded.
