Welcome to Frog Pond Farm Draft Horse Rescue!

Frog Pond Farm, Inc was formed in September 2002. We incorporated in May 2003 and registered as a non-profit charitable organization with the State of Ohio.  Our mission is to Rescue, Rehabilitate, and Rehome draft horses in and out of our local community. We also assist new owners on proper draft horse maintenance and needs. We are working to assist local horse owners with free and low cost gelding and euthanization assistance.

Frog Pond Farm acquires our drafts through many means. We attend local and other auctions and purchase directly through the sale ring; outbidding the buyers who ship to slaughter. We also have representatives attend out of state auctions on our behalf. We assist the Humane Society on neglect and abuse seizures. We monitor Craigslist for draft horses in poor condition or in the price range that makes them at risk for purchase to be shipped to slaughter or auction. We accept owner surrenders when the space is available. We regularly have a waiting list of 8-12 drafts at any one time. We also assist owners in the SAFE placement of their draft horses from their residence.

All our horses are placed with a 5 year mandatory regular check in period. At the end of the 5 years, we will forgo those check ins as long as the adopter is diligent in getting check ins to us in a timely manner. We hold ownership rights for the life of the horse.

Our application process requires the completion of a lengthy and personal application. Once you have been approved, you will be required to complete a legal contract before the horse is allowed to leave. This is for the safety of the horses in our care.

We only place horses within the US. No adoptions allowed to Canada.
